Important Days and Their Significance 
 
There are many National and International days of great importance, which are celebrated by all the people every year. People celebrate these National and International days with great enthusiasm. Some of these days are :

Environment Day 

5th June is celebrated as World Environment Day to raise the global awareness among people about the environmental issues as well as take positive environmental actions. We are all a part of the environment and it is we who have to take more care of it. We all celebrate this day in educational institutions by holding debates, quizzes, etc.

Literarcy Day 

International Literarcy day is celebrated annually on 8th September. Literarcy is the ability to "read, write, spell, listen, and speak." Our government is undertaking various measures to eradicate illiteracy. Literarcy day is of great significance for all of us and it makes us understand the need of being literate. We should take an oath on this day that we will help an illiterate person to read and write. Or motto should be - "Each One Teach One."

Health Day

Good Health is the greatest blessing of life. Good health is very important because a person of good health can put through a large amount of work in a short time. Worlds health day is a global health awareness day celebrated on 7th April every year. On this day, government organizes many free health camps. In these camps, doctors do free check-ups and give free medical services to needy people.

Earth Day 

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Earth day aims to promote conservation of earth's various resources. We should all take part in such movements to save our earth and preserve our environment so that our future generations may also use the natural resources. 

Teacher's Day

Teacher's Day is celebrated on 5th September every year, on the occasion of birthday of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, former president of India, On this day, various activities take place in schools and colleges. Many cultural programmes are organised by students to entertain their teachers. They stress upon the importance of a teacher in a student's life. We all give cards and flowers to our teachers on this day.

Yoga Day 

International Day of Yoga also commonly referred to as Yoga Day, is celebrated annually on 21st June since its inception in 2015. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice attributed mostly to India. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested the date of 21 st June, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares special significance in many parts of the world. It is a worldwide event celebrated by the people of all countries through practising yoga, meditation, debates, meetings, discussions, variety of cultural performances, etc.
