Q 2. List any three factors responsible for the urbanization of a place.
Ans.  People usually relocate to cities in the hope of a better life for themselves and their families. As opportunities for income are more in cities it helps in raising their standards of Living.
Factors that influence people to move to cities:
1. Better living standards.
2. Choice of employment
3. Better Civic amenities.

Q 3. Mention two ways in which the environment is affected as a result of increased urbanization.
Ans. With the increase in urbanization, the environment is affected in many ways as :
1. There is a steep rise in air pollution due to more factories and motor vehicles plying on the roads.
2. The expansion of cities leads to the destruction of flora and fauna. Demand for more housing leads to deforestation and desestruction of wetlands which drive away many birds and animals from their natural habitats.
3. In many areas close to the sea, urbanization damages the ocean ecosystem.
4. Destruction of green areas and increase in buildings leads to an increase in city temperatures.
5. Rise in air pollution leads to respiratory diseases and allergies.

Q 4 Write a short note on better civic amenities as one of the factors influencing urbanization?
Ans:- The quality of education in villages is usually low. Besides, the number of schools and colleges in village is also less . sometimes ,the Educational Institutes are located far from the home and students have to travel great distances to reach the school or colleges. Therfore students move to cities to provide better education facilities Cities also provide advanced Medical and Healthcare facilities as compared to rural areas . in cities, there are many charitable institutions that provide free or low-cost medical treatment to the poor

Ans: • Satellite cities : are smaller cities that come around larger cities but are independent of them. Its main objective is torelieve pressure from the main city. For example : Main city Mumbai — Satellite cities are Thane and Navi Mumbai.
